PURPOSE:To reduce the temp. dependency of the tensile elastic modulus of the titled material by using a specified urethane-methacrylate oligomer using polyoxytetramethylene glycol as the starting material, a reactive diluent consisting of a specified alicyclic compd., and a polymerization initiator as the essential components to improve the curability of the material. CONSTITUTION:A compd. having >=2 isocyanate groups in one molecule is allowed to react with polyoxytetramethylene glycol having a hydroxyl group at the terminal and 800-2,500 mean mol.wt. through the hydroxyl group to form a urethane coupling. Methacroyl groups are introduced into both terminals of the molecule through the remaining isocyanate group of the compd. participitating in the coupling to form a urethane-methacrylate oligomer. The oligomer is used as the essential material, and the essential material, a reactive diluent for the essential material consisting of an alicyclic compd. having >=2 polymerizable carbon-carbon double bonds and which is a low-viscosity liq. at ordinary temp., and a polymerization initiator are mixed. A cured material having excellent toughness can be provided by the optical glass fiber coating material of this composition.
