PURPOSE:To execute a position adjustment safely and with a high accuracy, even if an interval of a structure is narrow, by installing an optical fiber to each axis center position of a pair of structures, and moving the structure so that an optical loss passing through them becomes minimum. CONSTITUTION:A position adjustment is executed so that both axis centers of a pair of rotating bodies 22, 24 whose end faces are opposed to each other are arranged on one straight line. In this case, in both the axis center positions of the rotating bodies 22, 24, a transmitting optical fiber 25 and a receiving optical fiber 28 are installed coaxially, respectively. In this state, a light beam of a prescribed light quantity is made incident on the fiber 25 from a light source 27, transmitted through said fiber, and also, through the fiber 28, and the light quantity is detected by a photodetector 30. Subsequently, a position of at least one of the rotating bodies 22, 24 is moved so that the detected light quantity becomes maximum, in other words, so that the loss at a connecting point of the fibers 25, 28 becomes minimum. In this way, when the detected light quantity has become maximum, the axis centers of the rotating bodies 22, 24 are aligned on one straight line.
