发明名称 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an element whose gap is so controlled with high accuracy that no air bubble is formed at low temperature and the gap becomes irregular at high temperature by providing a buffer chamber made of a material which is easier to deform than the material of a transparent electrode substrate outside an effective display area and holding the internal pressure of a liquid crystal layer lower than the atmospheric pressure at the upper limit temperature of an operating temperature range. CONSTITUTION:Spacers are dispersed uniformly over the entire display surface, and the buffer chamber which is made of the material easier to deform than the substrate material of a cell and absorbs variation in volume is provided outside the effective display area and sealed so that the internal pressure of the liquid crystal layer is lower than the atmospheric pressure at the upper-limit temperature of the operating temperature range. For example, a small hole 13 is bored outside the effective display area 12 of a lower electrode substrate 7. A seal material 5 is printed on either of electrode substrates 6 and 7 where an electrode and an orientation film are formed and spacers 2 which are glass fiber pieces are dispersed uniformly on the other by a spraying method; and then the substrates area assembled and a curing treatment is carried out. The part of the hole 13 is covered with a cover 14 made of phosphor bronze. Liquid crystal 4 is charged in this element and the charge intake 3 is sealed.
