PURPOSE:To make the washing of the elastic member of a leveler unnecessary when the elastic member is detached after coating by moistening the elastic member. CONSTITUTION:The rod body 18 coated with a coating soln. is drawn out from a booth 14 when coating is finished, the openings 34 on both side walls of the booth body 32 are closed by holding a closing plate 36 by a guide 38, and the booth 14 is sealed to the outside in the device for coating a coating agent on the outer periphery of a rod material such as a pipe. Steam, etc., are then supplied into the booth 14 by a humidifier 16 to keep the humidity in the booth 14 at a high value. Since the elastic member of the leveler is thus moistened, the elastic member need not be washed, when the elastic member is detached after coating. Accordingly, the treatment of a washing waste liq. is not necessitated.
