PURPOSE:To obtain the titled device little in pressure drop by providing a trap made of ceramic which is formed so as to surround the outlet of a linear filter made of ceramic where in an inlet and an outlet are opened. CONSTITUTION:A particulates trap 11 is provided with a casing 14 having an inlet 12 of exhaust gas A and an outlet 13 of purified gas B. A filter 15 made of ceramic and a trap 16 are successively connected and arranged in the direction of a gas flow path in the casing 14. The filter 15 and the trap 16 are supported by a spacer radiately arranged. Further an inlet 18 of backwash gas is provided to the part near to the filter 15. Therefore purification of the exhaust gas is mainly performed by the filter 15 having a large filter area, and dust is mainly collected to the trap 16 by means of inertia force, and therefore this device has little pressure drop and is effective in treatment of exhaust gas of a diesel engine or the like.
