PURPOSE:To prevent an unstable state of flame caused by a delay in a ignition by a method wherein a part of combustion air is supplied to a flame position within a combustion chamber when a pitch water slurry is injected into a combustion chamber under its atomized state and the flame is kept at its stable condition. CONSTITUTION:When pitch water slurry is injected into a combustion chamber A under its atomized state and ignited there, a part of combustion air is supplied to a flame position within the combustion chamber 4 and then a flame is kept at its stable condition. The extremely end of an air pipe 3 for supplying air to a flame position within the combustion chamber from outside the burner tile is positioned at the flame position within the combustion chamber, which the extremity end thereof is provided with an opening 8. This opening is located in such a way as the injected air is not directed to the center of the flame, but directed in parallel with an outer circumference of the flame. A ratio of air to be supplied to the combustion initial area is in a range of 0.65-1.0.
