PURPOSE:To save the space of a conveyor and shorten a conveying time, by composing guide rails of main tracks and branch lines branched roughly at the right angles to the main tracks. CONSTITUTION:Guide rails 1 are composed of two main tracks 32a, 32b, two branch lines 33a, 33b laid to be branched from the main tracks 32a, 32b at a branch section A, and a '#'-formed connecting plate 34 for connecting the main tracks 32a, 32b to the branch lines 33a, 33b. A conveyor 2 is magnetically levitated by the guide rails and magnetic bearing units 12a-12d, and is run by a linear motor. On the upper wall of the branch section A, the stators 43a, 43b, 43c of a linear induction motor are fixed. When the stator 43b is excited, then a driving force in the main track direction is generated, and when the stators 43a, 43c are excited, then a driving force in the branch line direction is generated.
