PURPOSE:To improve the reliability and the performance of the titled system by executing the input processing pertinent to a page fault giving priority to it over an output processing. CONSTITUTION:As for a page-out processing, an optional vacant slot on a page data set is selected, and a command is written in the LSID (logical slot identifier) in the AIA (action information area) in a PCB (paging control block). As for a page-in processing, commands are divided in those that are requested from the system space and others, and stored on a page data set. For the above said former group, a PCB and an IOE (input output element) different from ordinary IOEs are prepared, in order to retrieve only the requests from the system space in the order to slot numbers (32nd and 36th slots). With the ordinary IOEs, the requests are selected in the order of slot numbers (5th, 20th, 22nd, 18th, 25th, and 33rd slots). By guaranteeing such a priority processing for page faults, falling into a low priority of a job can be prevented.
