PURPOSE:To considerably improve the yield of a fluorinated product by electrochemically fluorinating an org. compound in an electrolytic bath contg. dimethylsulfoxide so as to prevent the sticking of a polymer to electrodes and to inhibit the rise of the bath voltage. CONSTITUTION:An electrode pack contg. alternately arranged Ni anodes and iron cathodes is put in an electrolytic cell made of a material such as iron or Ni and the cell is provided with a capacitor. An electrolytic soln. of an org. compound to be fluorinated and dimethylsulfoxide are filled into the cell. The amount of the dimethylsulfoxide is 0.5-50wt%, especially 5-30wt% of the amount of the org. compound. The electrolytic bath is electrolyzed at 0-25 deg.C electrolytic temp., 0.2-5A/dm<2> current density and 4-15V bath voltage. Constant current is stably supplied for a long time and electrochemical fluorination can be carried out. The concn. of the org. compound in the electrolytic bath is usually kept at 0.2-20wt%.
