PURPOSE:To non-destructively inspect the hydrogen erosion of a pressure vessel by detecting the decrease of the coercive force of steel products. CONSTITUTION:A steel sheet made of the specific compsn. subjected to a prescribed treatment is subjected to a high-temp. high-pressure hydrogen treatment in hydrogen kept at and under, for example, 600 deg.C and 300kgf/cm<2> and annealing in a vacuum kept at 600 deg.C, respectively. The corresponding decrease of the coercive force and Charpy absorption energy which arises in the case of subjecting the steel sheet to the high-temp. high-pressure hydrogen treatment is evident from the figure indicating the measured change of the coercive force and the Charpy absorption energy at 0 deg.C during the above-mentioned treatment. The deterioration in the quality of the steel products to be used under high-temp. high-pressure hydrogen by the hydrogen erosion thereof is thus made detectable from the decrease of the coercive force.
