There is described an intra-uterine pessary of variable size which has arms (15) for adaptation to the geometry of the uterine cavity and a central rod-shaped member (1) comprising a basic body (2) on the upper end of which the flexible arms (15) are hinged, and an adjustment cylinder (4) whose upper edge presses against the arms (15) in such a way that the arms (15) can be spread by turning the adjustment cylinder (4), and having a coupling member (8) which is connected to a removable adjustment device (11) during adaptation. The invention provides for a sliding clutch (20) which prevents the adjustment cylinder from being displaced on the basic body when a specific torque is exceeded. <IMAGE>
