The high-voltage switch contains a housing (1) in which two switching elements (5, 6) are arranged which can move relative to one another. A first (6) of the two switching elements (5, 6) is guided through a nozzle (17) in the switched-on state, which nozzle (17), in the switched-off state, connects a pressure chamber (9) which is filled with extinguishing fluid to a gas-filled expansion space (10). This high-voltage switch is intended to be of compact construction and at the same time to be suitable for switching off small and large currents. This is achieved in that the pressure space (9) has a storage volume (11) which, in the switched-on state, communicates with the expansion space (10) and is filled with a gas which is insoluble in the extinguishing fluid or is soluble therein only with difficulty. <IMAGE>
