A bracket for connecting chairs to form a row of chairs comprises a bracket (1-6) which is pivotably secured to the inside of a chair frame (II) and is formed in such a manner that by being swung out and up under the frame (I) of a second chair placed next to the first chair the bracket will squeeze together the two chairs by its elastic force. The chairs are provided with retaining means (10 and 12) which retain the bracket when it is swung up under the second chair and when it is swung up under the seat of the chair on which it is arranged, respectively. The bracket can have such a shape that when it is swung up under another chair, it will abut on the chair legs and the underside of the chair frame so that the chairs can neither move horizontally nor vertically relative to each other. <IMAGE>
