Cyclonic separators for underground mining require constant cleaning in order to suck out dust, mud and water. This makes it impossible to use customary cyclonic separators underground. In order to be able to use cyclonic separation underground, a double cyclonic separator is proposed which is controlled in such a way that whilst one cyclonic separator is operating the other cyclonic separator opens the bottom flap and can thus be emptied, the changing over from operation to emptying taking place by means of an automatic control which is dependent on time, the filling level or partial vacuum.
