A humic-based complex is made by (a) dissolving humic acids in excess 0.1-2N alkali soln. in ratio 1:100-5 to obtain the corresp. humates; (b) neutralising to pH 8-10 by addn. of acid; (c) simultaneously and separately adding a ferric salt and an alkaline soln. to maintain pH 8-10; and (d) drying and milling to obtain a fine powder.
