In a sheet-metal formed part with marginal strips 3, 4 which are each bent by about 90 DEG relative to the surface at their edges 2 and are welded to one another in the corner area, the weld is to be capable of being placed neatly in a simple manner. For this purpose, a sloping marginal line 5 is provided on the first marginal strip 3. The second marginal strip 4 has an end section 7 which is bent into the plane of the first marginal strip 3. A step 9, 10 is angled on the end section 7. The step 9, 10 extends next to the marginal line 5 of the first marginal strip 3 and forms a stepped end part 11 which reaches under the first marginal strip 3. The weld 26 lies between the marginal line 5 and the step 9, 10. <IMAGE>
