PURPOSE:To control a temp. in accordance with the load of a heater or a cooler by providing a heat insulating material on the outer periphery of an enclosed container and providing a heat radiation controlling device which detects the atmospheric temp. and closely attaches or separates said heat insulating material to and from said enclosed container. CONSTITUTION:The stator 15 of a motor part 13 and a compression mechanism part 14 are fixed to an enclosed container 12. A heat insulating material 16 is provided on the outer periphery of the enclosed container 12, and a heat radiation controlling device 17 made of a shape memory alloy is fixed to the outer periphery of the heat insulating material 16 and exposed to the atmosphere. The curvature radius of the heat radiation controlling device 17 is varied according to change in the atmospheric temp. to control the degree of heat radiation. Thereby, the temp. of the compressor can be properly maintained in accordance with the load of a heater or a cooler.
