In order to relieve the stress on the thighs of the skier and accordingly to increase the comfort and safety of skiing, two identical support units are attached to the rear side of the calf and thigh. Each support unit consists of a pressure pad (1) which is bound onto the knee in a centred position by means of a double binding (10), via a knee protector (11) and a profiled cushion (9). In the skiing position, the compressed air pad (11) becomes deformed in the manner of a wedge between the calf and thigh and acts to support the latter. The smaller the angle between the calf and thigh, the greater the supporting force is. The supporting effect is dependent on the air pressure, and accordingly can easily be set. <IMAGE>
