NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I(R is halogen or lower alkyl). EXAMPLE:2,5-Difluoro-4-trifluoromethoxyaniline. USE:An intermediate for producing drugs, agricultural chemicals, etc., especially useful as an intermediate for a benzoylurea derivative having improved insecticidal effects. PREPARATION:A nitrobenzene derivative shown by formula II is reduced to give a compound shown by formula I. The compound shown by the formula II is also a novel compound and produced from a phenolic derivative shown by formula III according to a reaction formula.
