The object of the invention is, by means of an apparatus arranged separate from the bending machine, to reproduce the sequence of motions of the said bending machine and position the individual bending angles. This is achieved by the fact that the movement of the bending machine is transmitted synchronously, by means of a synchro-generator chain, via an electric connection to a synchro-receiver, the rotor of which is connected to a spindle drive. Mounted on the spindle drive, which can be traversed in the X axis, is the positioning rail as the pick-up for the optoelectronic sensors arranged on the Y axis, which serve to sense the position hole on the respective track. The information formation for the off signal takes place when the position is reached, in conjunction with a light source situated on the rear side of the programme card. For initial coding and storage of the bending angles on the programme card, use is made of marking pins situated in the positioning rail and assigned to the individual tracks.
