PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as an intermediate for medicines and agricultural chemicals in high selectivity and yield, by reacting a fluorine- substituted aromatic halide with CO and a hydroxyl compound in the presence of a Pd catalyst and base in the absence of a phosphine compound. CONSTITUTION:A fluorine-substituted aromatic halide compound having fluorine atom and a halogen atom different from the halogen directly linked to the aromatic ring, preferably a benzene derivative, particularly p-fluorobromo- or p-fluoroiodobenzene is reacted with carbon monoxide and an aromatic hydroxy compound, preferably phenol or 2,6-dimethylphenol in the presence of a Pd catalyst and base in the absence of a phosphine compound at 100-350 deg.C, preferably 180-300 deg.C temperature under 1-500kg/cm<2>, preferably 5-300kg/cm<2> pressure to afford the aimed compound. EFFECT:An intermediate for monomers giving heat-resistant polymers. |
