PURPOSE:To accurately obtain the center point of a hole mark and hole information at a high speed by using a low-resolution sensor and a high-resolution sensor in combination. CONSTITUTION:Transparent hole marks to be read which have a black background on a transparent film is colored previously from above the transparent film so that the marks having a common hole diameter are in the same color. Then, a scan on the film is made by the low-resolution sensor 16 and the X and Y coordinate values of the center point of a hole mark are computed 114. Color density detection data of the sensor 16, on the other hand, is stored 78 and color density data on a position corresponding to the center point is outputted. Those data are filed 112 together with added color flags. Then, the high-resolution sensor 28 scans hole marks within a set scanning range 112 and X and Y coordinate values of their center points are computed 116. Consequently, position data on the corresponding hole mark center points in the file 112 are updated successively. The updated data are sorted by colors into hole mark data of the same colors by specifying flags.
