The process consists of (a) neutralising an alkyl benzene sulphonic acid with a nitrogen base to form a salt; (b) treating the salt with a hypochlorite bleching agent; (c) combining the sulphonate salt with a thickener in water, in a vacuum reactor at between ambient temp. and 50 deg.C for 10-20 mins.: (d) adding a non-ionic surfactant and auxiliary prods. (e) adding a perfume prod.; and (f) packaging a partial stream from the reactor. The thickner is carboxymethyl or methyl-cellulose, the non-ionic surfactant is a 10-24C aliphatic alcohol and the auxiliary prods. are colourants and optical whiteners. ..ER ALL
