The venetian blind has a hoist rope guided in a fixed supporting structure, with two or more pairs of slat supports on opposite sides. The first supports on one side are fixed to the structure at the top and the second ones at the other side to an adjusting mechanism fixed at one point and with a guide for the hoist rope and movable in relation to the first one. On lifting, the adjusting mechanism is first moved so as to tilt tha slats. The adjusting mechanism is formed by a flexible unit (10) compressible only to a slight degree at the most. Its first stationary point can be on the fixed structure through which the rope (3) is guided.
