The apparatus for introducing pulverulent material via a sluice into a conveying system at a higher pressure level may also be referred to as a cellular wheel sluice. The metering feeder which is mounted rotatably in a housing comprises the cylinder 5 and working slides 3, which are inserted laterally parallel into the cylinder and are held in each case by a tongue and groove connection. In the one lateral end wall of the housing 1 there is provided an opening whose size is adapted to the height of a working slide 3 and which can be closed by a cover 12. By this means, it is possible to replace the working slides with ease and without long downtimes. In an advantageous manner, the working slides consist of a flexible material, preferably a material having a structure which is similar to that of a rubber tyre. <IMAGE>
