PURPOSE:To reduce optical loss and to easily store a light emitting module in a DIP type package by using an elliptic mirror as a coupling system. CONSTITUTION:The elliptic mirror 3 is a part of a rotationally symmetrical ellipse about a Z axis having focuses F1, F2 and is constituted so that an LED or a laser diode chip 4 is arranged on the focus F1 and an optical fiber 6 is arranged on the focus F2. Light radiated from the chip 4 is diffused light to be radially expanded, the optical path of the diffused light is refracted by about 90 deg. by the mirror 3 and converged on the focus F2. Electric power for the chip 4 is supplied from lead wires 5a, 5c and a case 2 has so-called DIP type constitution. Since the elliptic mirror 3 is used as the coupling system, reflection due to the difference of refractive indexes can be removed and the whole intra-beam power received by the mirror 3 can be converged on the opposite focus side. Since the optical path can be refracted by about 90 deg., packaging with high packaging property can be attained. |
