PURPOSE:To impart an excellent coating property and to improve background staining at the time of printing by an ink sheet, by using an ink layer comprising dispersing carbon black being a coloring material in paraffinic wax using a surfactant. CONSTITUTION:The surface of carbon black is negatively charged in general and, therefore, by using nitrogen-containing type long chain aliphatic amine, a cationic surfactant or a nonionic surfactant as a surfactant, carbon black is dispersed in paraffic wax so as to be capable of obtaining a thermal transfer recording medium having a good coating property onto a base material, free from transfer inferiority or background staining at the time of printing and having high resolving power. As paraffinic wax to be used, saturated hydrocarbon with MW of about 300-500 based on about 20-50C straight chain hydrocarbon is pref. generally and one with m.p. of 55-75 deg.C and penetration of 10-15 at 25 deg.C is especially pref. |
