The apparatus includes a static switch 56 and a pair of mechanical contacts 22, 24 electrically connected in series. The static switch 56 is housed in a compartment 68 towards the bottom of the moulded casing 12 of the apparatus, in thermal contact with an external metal plate 16. The housing 68 of the static switch 56 is separated by an insulating partition 14 from the remaining portion of the moulded casing 12, which contains the contacts 22, 24, their control mechanism 30, the cut-off chamber 26 and the trip 32. The power terminals and the control terminals of the static switch 56 are arranged on the small lateral faces of the casing 12 on either side of the plane of travel of the moving contact 22, which extends parallel to these small lateral faces. <IMAGE> |
