PURPOSE:To simply and beautifully write italic type, a turn-over character or a contracted character, by providing a printing head rotatable around the axis in the direction vertical to the surface of paper. CONSTITUTION:A printing head 1 is inserted into the cylindrical hole of a main body 2 so as to be rotatable in such a state that a nozzle is protruded downwardly and usually fixed by the fixing spring 4 engaged with a notch part 3. When the main body 2 is moved to the direction shown by an arrow A, an encoder 6 is rotated through wheels 5 to output a printing timing signal to an external controller and a printing signal is sent to a printing head 1 from the external controller to perform printing. At a time (a) when the printing head is present at a fundamental position, usual printing is performed but, when the printing head 1 is moved to the direction opposite to the arrow A, a turn-over character wherein the left side and the right side are in reverse relation mutually is printed. At a time (b) when the printing head is rotated by an angle theta, a dot pitch is shifted by cos theta times to a vertical direction and shifted by sin theta times to the lateral direction but, if the shift quantity in the lateral direction is corrected by changing printing timing, a character contracted by cos theta times to the vertical direction can be printed.
