CONSTITUTION:The transfer ribbon 109 is clipped by a guide roller 112 and a roller 111 provided for detecting the ejection quantity of the ribbon 109 before the ribbon is in contact with the heating part of the thermal head 106. In moving the main body 11 on recording paper while the tip of the ribbon 109 drawn externally is clipped by the recording paper, image data stored in a memory at read is read by each line and fed to the thermal head 106 based on the ejecting quantity obtained by the drive of the roller 111 attended with the ejection of the ribbon 109. In moving the main body 11 without fixing one end of the ribbon 19 to the recording paper through pressing, since the ribbon 109 is not ejected and the control section 113 does not output the image data to the thermal head 106 for drive.
