PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic disk having high S/N and small coated surface roughness by installing one side magnetic pole or both sides magnetic poles so as to be spaced in the recording direction of a recording medium and impressing a pulse magnetic field of the coercive force of magnetic powder or above to a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The single magnetic pole 2 or pair of the magnetic poles 2a, 2b are installed on the top surface, rear surface or both faces of an Al disk or magnetic tape 1. A magnetic coating compd. prepd. by dispersing pulverized ferromagnetic material powder in a high-polymer binder soln. is coated on the disk 1 and the magnetic material particles in the coated film is treated by the pulse magnetic field. The high-reliability coated film which is free from ground cracking and has surface smoothness is formed by such treatment. The magnetic disk having excellent electrical characteristics is thus obtd.
