<p>A method of assaying an immune system response of a human or mammalian test subject comprises (a) prepg. a peripheral blood lymphocyte (PBL) population from a blood sample taken from the subject, (b) exposing at least a portion of the population to of an amplifier (I) and an agent (II) for activating an immune system response and (c) assaying the prodn. in the population of a material (III) that is an index of immune system response induced by (II), so that an immune system assay result is provided that is representative of the amt. of the cubjects' immune response to (II). Pref. (II) is PHA, pokeweed, ConA or tetanus toxoid. (I) may be e.g. Amplifier Beta, Amplifier Zeta-1, Amplifier Eta, Ta or TGG. Pref. (III) is IL-Z or gamma-interferon and the prodn. is assayed by measuring labelled thymidine incorporation.</p> |
