PURPOSE:To enable always the regeneration of an electron microscopic image of highest quality by arranging the reading condition and/or the image processing condition of the real reading basing on the electron microscopic image information obtained by a prereading. CONSTITUTION:An electron microscopic image recorded on a storage fluorescent sheet 11 is scanned with an exciting light beam 12a. And the emitted accelerated fluorescence is read by a photomultiplier 15. The reading output is amplified to an electric signal Sp with an amplifier 23 for the prereading and digitized. And the optimal latitude F is obtained to be sent to an A/D converter 34 for the real reading. Then the energy level of the beam 12a is elevated, and the obtained output of the photomultiplier 15 is inputted to an amplifier 33 for the real reading to obtain a real readed image signal S. The image signal S is digitized by the converter 34 in the optimal acquisition scale factor basing on the information obtained by the prereading. This digitized signal Sd is sent to an image regeneration device 37, after subjected to an image processing, to regenerate the electron microscopic image.
