PURPOSE:To form a protective film into two-layered structure and to remarkably improve corrosion resistance by depositing a thin magnetic plating film medium on a substrate, then covering the surface with a thin nonmagnetic Ni-P plating film and further depositing a thin metallic film selected from Cr, Ti, Ta and Nb thereon. CONSTITUTION:The nonmagnetic Ni-P plating layer is formed to about 20mum thickness on the disk-shaped Al alloy substrate and is the polished to 15mum thickness; thereafter, a thin magnetic Co-Ni-P film is deposited by electroless plating thereon to about 7,000Angstrom thickness. The electroless nonmagnetic Ni-P layer is then deposited thereon to about 200Angstrom thickness and the thin metallic film consisting of Cr, Ti, Ta, Nb, etc. is deposited thereon by using a magnetron sputtering device. The surface thereof is coated with a carbonaceous film which has about 200Angstrom thickness and acts as a lubricating film. The corrosion resistance is then remarkably improved, by which the long-term reliability is improved and CSS resistance is eventually improved.
