PURPOSE:To simplify the page turning of a printer by performing the printer acquisition processing, the page advance processing, and the printer release processing if a printer is not acquired when the printer page advance indication is reported. CONSTITUTION:A multi-job system consists of a printer 1, a magnetic disc device 2, a floppy device 3, keyboards 10-1-10-n, and a computer 12, and the computer 12 is provided with respective control programs 4-6 and 9-1-9-n of the printer 1, etc., and has an operating system 7 and job programs 8-A and 8-B. When an indication comes from an operator, it is checked successively whether printer release is indicated or not, whether printer acquisition is indicated or not, whether page advance is indicated or not, and whether the printer is released (not acquired) or not, and the page turning processing or the printer release or acquisition processing is performed in accordance with check results.
