Cyano- and amido-phenylnaphthyridines of formula: in which X represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl or cycloalkyl radical, a halogen, a methoxy, a thiomethyl or a nitro, R represents a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl radical containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms or a group A-COOH, A being an alkyl or an alkylene containing 0 to 12 carbon atoms, Y represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen, methoxy or thiomethyl, R1 representing a cyano (CH2)nCN or amido (CH2)nCONH2 radical in which n is an integer from 0 to 5, R1 being in the ortho, meta or para position, but preferably in the meta or para position, and the medicaments which contain them.
