PURPOSE:To provide a refreshing dentifrice composition containing perilla oil in a stable state, having excellent sanitation effect to the mouth by the sterilizing, appetizing and refreshing effects of the oil, by adding a specific solid acid and a specific salt as stabilizers to perilla oil. CONSTITUTION:The objective dentifrice composition contains perilla oil. Perilla oil is an essential oil insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol, oil, etc., obtained by the steam distillation of green leaves of Perilla frutescens, and composed mainly of perillaldehyde. Although perillaldehyde is a desirable additive for dentifrice because of its sterilizing, appetizing and refreshing effects, it has a fault of poor stability. It has been found newly that perilla oil can be compounded stably in a composition by mixing with a solid acid (e.g. silicic anhydride, zeolite, etc.) and further with a salt (e.g. NaCl, KCl, etc.). The amounts of the solid acid and salt are preferably 0.5-5wt% and 5-10wt% respectively. |
