The sprinkler is provided with a release arrangement (10) which presses a closure element (9) by spring pressure against a sealing surface (8) on the nozzle opening (7). A helical compression spring (13) acting in the direction of the longitudinal axis (A-A) of the sprinkler is supported on a pressure member (11) which is held in a cap-shaped bearing (12) so as to be capable of being pushed out laterally. A release element (14), which grows longer in response to an increase in the ambient temperature, in the form of a helically wound compression spring made of wire made of an Ni/Ti alloy is intended to eject the pressure member (11) from its locking position and thus to release the closure element (9) for the outlet of extinguishing water. <IMAGE>
