NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I [R<1> is groups shown by formulas II-IV (R<3>-R<5> are H, halogen, OH, alkyl, phenyl, NH2, etc.; R<6> is H or alkyl; R<7> is H, alkyl, benzyl, etc.; R<8> is H or R<8> and R<7> are mutually bonded together with neighboring C and N to form 5-membered heterocyclic ring); R<2> is groups shown by formulas V-VII (R<22> is H, alkyl, phenyl, etc,; R<23> is alkyl or mutually bonded to give alkylene)]. EXAMPLE:(R,S)-2-(L-1-benzoylpyrrolidin-2-yl)-acetic acid ethyl ester. USE:Having strong proline specificity endopeptidase activity and useful as a drug for alleviating amnesia. PREPARATION:A pyrrolidine derivative shown by formula VIII (R<25> is group shown by formula V or VII) is reacted with a carboxylic acid shown by the formula R<26>-OH, further optionally oxidized, deprotected and hydrolyzed to give a compound shown by formula I.
