PURPOSE:To record a picture with a specified magnification even when the resolution of reading and that of recording are different from each other by designating the resolution of reading corresponding to the resolution of recording of a recorder selected from the host computer side. CONSTITUTION:The picture information of an original 52 is read by a CCD 60 that is a reading means, and supplied to a picture processor 200. The picture- processed picture data is supplied to plural recorders 65A-65C provided in an output device 65, so that a desired picture is recorded. To the device 200, a host computer 300 is connected, and a picture data and a control command are transferred through a bus 301. Also, in accordance with a command from the computer 300, the reading resolution of the CCD 60 is determined corresponding to the recording resolution of the selected recorder. As a result, a recording picture that satisfies the specified magnification can easily be obtained.
