PURPOSE:A bath agent, containing a water-soluble fraction obtained by extracting an extraction residue of an organic solvent-soluble fraction of medicinal ginseng, having sufficient warmth retaining effect and blood stream promoting effect and capable of contributing to treatment of diseases, e.g. hypercryesthesia, lumbago, etc., and promotion of health. CONSTITUTION:A medicinal ginseng bath agent obtained by, as necessary, cutting or crushing medicinal ginseng or dried material thereof, extracting the ginseng with a volatile low-molecular weight organic solvent or a mixture of organic solvent with water containing <=50vol% water to give an organic solvent-soluble fraction, extracting the above-mentioned organic solvent-soluble fraction, removing the resultant residue, adding an extraction solvent selected from water, aqueous organic solvent, e.g. alcohol or ketone, with >=50vol% water content and liquid polyhydric alcohol, e.g. glycerol or propylene glycol to extract the resultant residue and containing the obtained water-soluble fraction therein. Since ingredients, e.g. saponin, essential oil, etc., deteriorating the effect of the water-soluble fraction and contained in the organic solvent- soluble fraction are not contained, sufficient effect is attained. |
