PURPOSE:To enable only a ruled line to be output in a different color by an output means to output a bit of ruled line information from a memory means and an output means to output the ruled line information in a different color from other bit of information. CONSTITUTION:A ruled line code is stored in a documentary memory BSM and when an output is made in a varying color, a printer pointer PPOINT is cleared in the step S6.1. In the step 6.2, a single character is retrieved from the documentary memory BSM according to the content of PPOINT. Then in the step S6.3, the code is identified, and in the step S6.3, the device proceeds to the step 6.4 when an underline bit is set to issue a color change instruction signal to a printer PRT so that an underlined character may be output in a different color from those of other characters.
