PURPOSE:To decrease the number of drive circuits, and to shorten a recording time without requiring a high voltage resistant circuit by constituting a charge transfer circuit similar to BBD with one's own liquid crystal picture element, a capacitor, and a thin structive transistor. CONSTITUTION:Charge transfer clock lines phi1 and phi2 are connected alternately to the base of every other one of the transistors T1'...T2N'. Picture information signals are inputted from an input terminal Is serially, and the phi1, phi2 are alternately made active, and the charges stored in respective capacitors C1...C2N i.e. the picture information accordingly are sequentially transferred. During the said process, the information charges are stored in every other one of the capacitors, and useless information charges are held in the other one of the capacitors. Therefore, by disposing the liquid crystal picture elements D1...DN which are regarded as equivalent in circuit to the capacitors and the capacitors C1...CN-1 alternately, it is realized that significant charges are held in the picture elements D1...DN while useless charges in the capacitors C1...CN-1 upon the completion of the transfer.
