PURPOSE:To enable underlined characters to be output in different colors from those of other characters by providing an output means to output a second bit of information for modification of a first bit of information stored in a memory means in a different color from that of the first bit of information. CONSTITUTION:In the step S1, a documentary memory BSM of RAM is cleared, the coordinates of a cursor position XPOINT, YPOINT are initialized and the total number of characters of text MOJISU is cleared. In the step S2, 'wait for key input' state is maintained, and in the step S3, an underline bit is set to a character code on BSM when it is judged an underline key ULKY has been pressed. In the step S6.1, a printer pointer PPOINT is cleared to 0, and in the step S6.2, a single character is retrieved from BSM according to the content a PPOINT. In the step S6.5, single character printing process is performed and further in the step S6.4, a color change instruction is given to a printer PRT to output an underlined character in a different color from those of other characters.
