<p>PURPOSE:To perform gradation control over a liquid crystal shutter array efficiently by setting the exposure time of a next picture element in a next exposure period and driving and controlling the liquid crystal shutter array. CONSTITUTION:A specific time OP1 when a liquid crystal shutter 2 is opened according to a gradation density signal to perform exposure to the specific quantity I1 of transmitted light is set reversely from the end point t20 of time of this exposure period T and time t2 when a pulse voltage impresses to a liquid crystal cell 2A is reset to Zero V to open the liquid crystal shutter 2 is set. The pulse voltage is impressed in the beginning o each period T to close the liquid crystal shutter array 2, which is held closed until the voltage is released from being impressed next, thereby reducing the influence of a driving state which is entered at zero-voltage time that is one period precedent so that the influence is left in a next exposure period T. Efficient gradational recording corresponding to t specific gradation density signal is performed without extending the exposure period T specially.</p> |
