PURPOSE:To suppress initial discharge power and shorten the discharge time of a condenser, by connecting a non-linear ceramic current limiter in series to the discharge resistance and switch of a discharge circuit. CONSTITUTION:Both ends of a condenser 1 charged by a DC power source 5 via a switch 6 are short-circuited by a series connection circuit consisting of a discharge resistor 3 and a ceramic current limiter 4 via a switch 2. In this case, the ceramic current limiter 4 carries non-linear property in the voltage/current characteristic shown by figure; characteristic that while voltage applied to the limiter 4 is high, current flowing to the limiter 4 is little, but when the current is lowered to some degree, then conducting current is suddenly increased and suddenly reduced. Then, in the discharge initiation of the high voltage of the condenser 1, the discharge current is suppressed, and initial discharge power can extremely be reduced.
