PURPOSE:To obtain an proper photoelectric conversion detecting signal with always constant accuracy by controlling and adjusting the scanning speed of a self-scanning type photoelectric conversion detector in accordance with the variation of the carrying speed of a print to be inspected and correcting the level of an outputted photoelectric conversion detecting signal. CONSTITUTION:A speed deciding circuit 5 inputs a pulse signal, measures the number of pulses within a synchronizing time or a fixed time and outputs a speed signal corresponding to the carrying speed of a print 7 to an amplification control circuit 3 and a driving frequency generating circuit 4. The circuit 4 generates a driving pulse signal for controlling the scanning speed of the self- scanning type photoelectric conversion detector 2 in accordance with the input of the speed signal and outputs it to the detector 2. The circuit 3 corrects the level of the photoelectric conversion detecting signal inputted from the detector 2 in accordance with the change of the carrying speed through a speed signal inputted from the speed deciding circuit 5 and generates an output signal A.
