摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain the titled element capable of preventing a closstalk when effecting a matrix display by forming a barrier by raising stripe-wisely the height of the insulating substrate inserted between now electrodes to more than that of the row electrode, and by equalizing the height of the prescribed insulating substance to that of a spacer, thereby closely contacting the insulating substrate of th line electrode with the insulating substrate of the row electrode. CONSTITUTION:The transparent line electrode 2 is deposited on a transparent insulating substrate 1 by M lines, followed by overlapping conductive films 3 composed of the org. matter, displaying the electrochromism, on the line electrode 2 by the M lines to form a display electrode 4. While, a counter electrode 9 is formed by disposing the insulating substrate 5 on the facing side of the display electrode 4, and by forming continuosly the barrier 7 in a direction of intersecting perpendicularly to the line electrode 2, and by depositing the row electrodes 6 on a concave part interposed between the barriers by the N rows. The display electrode 4 and the counter electrode 9 are closely contacted with each other, and sealed, followed by pouring an electrolytic solution 10 therebetween. The electrolytic solution 10 is poured along the row electrodes. As the display electrode 4 is divided by the barrier composed of the insulating material, an electric current dies not flow to the display electrode 4 except the crossing part of the line electrode 6 and the display electrode 4, there by preventing the crosstalk.
