PURPOSE:To attain replacement, addition and revision of an optional page by reading the memory position information on a memory medium for file information on an added page, then reading the added page out of the memory medium for file information. CONSTITUTION:An operator obtains a sheet of picture information as that on a page 2 to be newly added by reading an original via a scanner 1 or reading the registered picture information out of an optical disk device 9. Then the operator supplies the information on the key word specifying a page 1 to be replaced with operation of a keyboard 5 in order to retrieve the page 1. When the operator indicates the replacement of pages, the picture information on the page 2 undergoes the compressed coding process through a CODEC circuit 7 and is written to an optical disk via the device 9 for storage.
