PURPOSE:To obtain excellent image quality through obtaining a desired color density for each of three colors, by incorporating a constituent for the first color into an ink sheet for the second color in such a proportion as to compensate for reverse transfer of the first color, and incorporating a constituent for the second color or constituents for the first and second colors into an ink sheet for the third color in such proportions as to compensate for reverse transfer of the second color or the first and second colors. CONSTITUTION:In a system for performing color-by-color printing by a color printer using sublimable dyes, proportions of constituents in ink films are so set as to satisfy the relationships A=(1.0)>alpha1beta and B(=1.0)>alpha2>gamma1, where gamma1 is the proportion of a component for the second color contained in an ink sheet for the first color A, alpha1 is the proportion of a constituent for the first color contained in an ink film for the second color B, and beta and alpha2 are the proportions of constituents for the first and second colors contained in an ink film for the third color C, respectively. Printing is sequentially conducted in the order of colors of A, B and C. Accordingly, a change in tone due to reverse transfer of the color used in the previous printing can be obviated, and images with excellent quality can be printed.
